Help for UP Students Affected by Typhoon Haiyan/ Yolanda

Super typhoon Haiyan/ Yolanda victims need your help.

We know sending food, water, and medicine to the hardest hit areas is critical. That will be an ongoing need, but on top of efforts on that front, we also need more targeted efforts to ensure that life continues – in the case of the students from the region, this means helping them pursue education despite the loss of family members, their families’ source of income, or both.

UP Sidlangan, the regional organization of students from Eastern Visayas in the University of the Philippines in Diliman, is conducting efforts to give financial aid to students affected by the typhoon. Through the “Padayon Isko” program, we aim to raise enough money to give each student 6,000 pesos a month for food, lodging, and other school expenses until the end of the second semester in March 2014. As of writing, we have been in contact with 249 students who need your assistance to continue studying.

There’s a lot of work ahead, but we believe in ensuring education continuity for some of the brightest young minds in the country, and we’re hoping you feel the same way.
